Itinerary
We start our journey at 9:00 AM from Dhaka, heading approximately 30–35 km to explore the rich heritage and scenic beauty of Narayanganj and Sonargaon.
- Jamdani Village (Narayanganj) – Jamdani is a traditional handwoven fabric renowned for its delicate muslin texture and intricate geometric or floral patterns. Crafted by skilled artisans using techniques passed down for centuries, Jamdani weaving is recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Visiting the village offers an up-close look at the artistry, patience, and craftsmanship involved in each piece.
- Panam City (Sonargaon) – Built in the late 19th century, Panam City was once a prosperous trading hub for wealthy Hindu merchants. About 50 historic buildings line a single street, blending Mughal and colonial architecture. Though many are abandoned, the weathered facades tell stories of a vibrant past, making this a paradise for history lovers and photographers.
- Boro Sardar Bari & Sonargaon Folk Arts and Crafts Museum – This grand mansion, once the residence of a wealthy landlord, showcases elegant Bengali architecture. Now part of the museum complex, it displays treasures of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage, including Jamdani textiles, folk musical instruments, and traditional rural crafts.
- Meghna River & Nolachor Island – We end the day with a peaceful boat ride along the Meghna River, one of the largest rivers in Bangladesh. We’ll explore Nolachor Island, a scenic river island offering natural beauty and serene views.
After the river excursion, we return to Dhaka.
